Baby CRS for sale/trade

I have about 15 juvenile S+ CRS for sale. Ranging anywhere from 2 month to 3 weeks old and you might even get some 1 day old babies that just hatched. They are from solid white SS parents and the newest batch is from a solid white S+/SS mother and a SS father. These will be S+ grade or higher. They will be 7$ each or 100$ for 15pieces shipped.

You will be getting mostly these sizes

Shipping will be 10$ for priority mail with tracking. shipping within California will come with a live arrival gaurantee but outside of california there is no gaurantee. I have shipped shrimp numerous times in CA and out of CA and still have not had a DOA yet.

Sexing CRS and NEW BABIES!!

I can only sex them after the female has been berried before. The females are larger, and more solid in color unless your CRS gene pool have solid white males which are EXTREMELY rare. I would pay 10x more for a solid male than a solid female. Female's belly curves downwards(a little less than when shes berried but pretty dam close) and male's lower bodies have more of an arc to them. I can usually sex them after 4-5 months of age.

Today when I got home from school I saw one of my 5 berried CRS only holding 2 eggs. This is the first time she was ever berried so I looked around to check if she dropped the eggs or they hatched. I saw 2 baby CRS on the wall of the tank and from their size they look like they hatched last night or really early this morning. I'll see what the survival rate of this batch is. She looked like she was carrying anywhere from 25-40.

Dead Shrimp

On wednsday august 19, before I left my house I saw a dead blue pearl shrimp in my do! aqua tank and a dead orange bee shrimp in my 10 gallon. I was a bit scared as the shrimp looked very young. I checked for nitrite, nitrate, GH, and pH. Everything seemed fine, nitrite was 0, nitrate was ~10, pH was 6.6, and GH was 4. Everything in my do! aqua tank was the same except the pH was 6(because the soil is newer). although all the test results told me everything was fine, I double dosed prime to get rid of any ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate and added ADA bacter 100. I did this because most of the time, sudden death of young shrimp are caused by ammonia or nitrite spikes. The prime is used to get rid of toxic substances immediately and the ADA bacteria is used for increasing bacteria population. In addition to prime and bacter 100, I also added a bag of purigen to the HOB filter to get rid of all the toxins.

Immediately that night, I went online to order some shrimp tonic as I heard from people on online forums, that this product can be a life saver. It should be coming in a few days along with other mosura products.

Before wednsday, I did not do anything to either of the tanks. I only did my daily dosing of excel, seachem potassium, potassium nitrate, and ADA step one along with feeding. After wednsday, I kept a close eye on these guys and they all seemed to be healthy and active so I stopped worrying. I just thought if anyone were to have emergency situations like this, this post may be able to help them.

Tank Updates

I have'nt had the chance to use the camera so no new pics yet.

20g CRS tank
I took the driftwood from my 12 gallon tiger shrimp tank and placed it in this tank. On 08/06, my second batch of CRS hatched and the survival rate seemed to have increased. I counted 12 babies today but since they're still very small I'm pretty sure there were more hiding. The 2nd batch's parents are both SS grade so most of the babies will probably also be SS grade.

On the day the babies hatched, I was actually watching the babies pop out one by one. It was an amazing site. I've seen cherry babies hatch before but this is my first time for CRS. I noticed that newly hatched CRS babies are all mostly red and clear with very little white and when they get to about 7 days old, their colors start to show. When I was dosing my shrimp tanks and feeding my shrimp today I noticed several more berried shrimp! I counted about 5. The shrimp seemed to have all settled down now and are all very active.

I dose 1-1.5mL of excel everyday along with 1mL of ADA step 1 and 1-2 mL of seachem potassium and iron every water change. Everything is doing great in this tank and I would say in 2-3 months I'll have a good sized colony.

12g Wild Tiger shrimp tank
When I took out the driftwood I saw TONS of babies! This means at least some of the eggs I separated from the dead mother tiger shrimp hatched. they do not have any stripes on them yet their size tells me they're about 3-4 weeks old. I turned this tank into a moss growout tank with a few stem plants to soak up the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and around 10 species of moss.

I saw amazing blue coloring in a several of these shrimp and thought about selectively breeding my own blue tiger shrimp but it would be too much work and school is starting next week so I want to start getting back into "study mode". Maybe later when all the babies grow up I'll setup another tank for the bluest tigers and then work on selectively breeding those.

And I saw about 4 or 5 berried tiger shrimp! Very excited to see what those babies would look like.

10g orange bee shrimp tank
I have about 25 juevie orange bess in here now and I'm feeding them crab cuisine everyday and raising the temp. to try to increase their growth rate. The temp is at 76 degrees. I dose 2mL of excel everyday with 1 mL of ADA step 1 and seachem potassium. I also dose potassium nitrate and iron every water change.

2g iwagumi
I've decided not to empty out the water but instead keep it. I only leave the lights on 4-6 hrs/day to prevent further algae problems. I think I'm going to elevate the fixture so I could increase the photo period and avoid temperature fluctuations as the light is heating up the water by over 10 degrees.

Last week I saw some blue bee shrimp at ocean aquarium so I picked 3 up and put them in here. They have a very deep blue and are very attractive looking. I was told by them that these blue bee shrimp breed in freshwater but they also told me a while back orange shrimp bred in freshwater which has been proven wrong many times by aquarium hobbyists. Hopefully these guys will breed for me. If they do, I will setup a larger tank for them.

Do!aqua mini-L
I have 5 microrasboras, 2 otocinclus affinis and about 30 blue pearl shrimp. They still are'nt 100% active yet. 2 females are berried and I've heard these guys breed like cherries so I'll probably have a good sized colony in no time since I'm starting out with 30.

I scaped this tank with the image of filipe oliveira's tree scape in mind but instead of a tree with one big bush, I wanted to do more of a bonsai style tree on a hill in a grass field and some rocks. The bonsai tree's leaves will be formed by mini pelia and the grass field will be eleocharis belem.
I want the tree to look sort of like this one:

Once I could use the camera, I will post new pics.

NEW shrimp and tank!

I had some trouble switching from blogspot.com to my own custom domain so the site was down for 2 weeks.....but now everything is up and running.

On July 15 I bought a do aqua mini-l from aqua forest aquarium. Its about 8 gallons and I just added fish yesterday. I will be posting pictures sometime this week. I'm planning on keeping blue pearl shrimp and Japanese blue swordtail guppies in the do aqua mini-l. In fact, the blue pearl shrimp are coming in the mail tomorrow!

As for my other 4 tanks, I hooked up a sponge filter to the 10 gallon orange bee tank and the 12 gallon tiger shrimp tank to get rid of the surface film. The CRS in the 20 gallon are all doing very well and seemed to have settled down, but the only thing is that I still haven't been able to see many babies. The most I've counted was only 5. I saw another berried CRS last week so now I have 2 berried females. Hopefully the survival rate of the babies will increase.

On 7/16 I got some wild caught tiger shrimp from ocean aquarium, known to have the healthiest fish and most knowledgable staff. I bought 15 pieces of tiger shrimp from them and since I'm one of their regular customers, they gave some of the nicer pieces and even some berried ones. They were the nicest tiger shrimp I've ever seen! Unlike regular tiger shrimp, these guys had purple, red and blue tints to them and are a bit larger than the other tiger shrimp I've seen before. I've read online before that wild caught shrimp do not adapt to tank conditions very well but I ignored it anyways and went ahead to buy them. After this, I really learned my lesson. The tiger shrimp were okay in my tanks for around 3 days then they started dying off one by one. Now I only have 10/11 pieces left but they all seem to be active and healthy now. It was mostly the larger and berried shrimps that died. When I bought them, they gave me 5 berried tigers and now I only have 1 berried female left. I seperated the eggs from the mothers that died and dumped the eggs back into the tank. I've hatched eggs like this before with orange bee shrimp and cherry shrimp but I have yet to see a baby shrimp. Today I saw a very small exoskeleton of a baby shrimp floating around in the tank so I'll continue feeding mosura bioplus in that tank and hope for the best.

The 2 gallon iwagumi scape I have up right now isn't doing very well and it acquired a lot of algae. I'm planning to siphon out all the water and just let the hairgrass grow emersed. I already moved all the fish into my newly cycled do aqua tank so all I have to do is siphon out the water.
Heres a old picture of what it looked like several weeks ago before it got infested with algae:
